    A foundation in financial discipline

    As an Audit Manager in London, Kamarul led financial audits, reviewed internal controls and prepared client reports. That grounding informs his approach to evidence, risk and business decisions.

    An early entrepreneurial chapter

    An entrepreneurial venture brought together enterprise clients, software deployment and business development—an early intersection of technology and commercial opportunity.

    Founded Aerodyne and led its development across drone technology, data analytics and digital transformation. The journey has involved international expansion, acquisitions and repeated changes in how the business operates.

Geospatial intelligence

Mapping Kuching

The Sarawak city-mapping project called for technical delivery at a scale that stretched the team’s capacity.

The portfolio describes a six-month delivery supported by collaboration with UTM Skudai and an apprenticeship structure to develop the required capability.

What the experience shaped

A demanding project became a foundation for stronger delivery standards and subsequent software-as-a-service offerings.

Infrastructure & industrial operations

Turning inspections into intelligence

Work described in the portfolio includes PETRONAS RAPID project monitoring in Pengerang and the DRONOS Oil & Gas / Vertikaliti offering.

Drone operations, AI-enabled analysis and cloud reporting bring inspection data into the customer’s operational workflow.

What the experience shaped

The emphasis is on reducing human exposure during inspections, improving access to reports and connecting technology to the decisions teams need to make.

Precision agriculture

Agrimor: responding to a real need

Agricultural labour shortages and the disruption of the pandemic created a need to rethink how work could be delivered.

Agrimor applied drone technology to precision agriculture. The portfolio also describes opportunities for aviation pilots whose jobs had been affected by the pandemic.

EY’s 2024 profile records service on Malaysia’s Economic Action Council, Digital Economy and 4IR Policy Council, Bumiputera Prosperity Council and Bank Negara Malaysia’s board.

It also records a Professor of Practice role at Putra Business School and adjunct professorships at UPM, UIAS and UMPSA—bringing experience from industry into education.

A personal compass

Growing up in a fishing village in Kelantan shaped Kamarul’s interest in opportunity and inequality. His portfolio connects that experience with a belief in technology and education as ways to improve lives. Travel, photography, history and science remain part of the curiosity he brings to his work.
